The head of the Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration, Vitalii Kim, said that he wants to make Mykolaiv «neater, like Kharkiv».

He said this in an interview with Nataliia Moseichuk.

According to him, it is impossible to compare the cities, because Kharkiv has a larger budget, but at the same time it looks cleaner.

«I have been to Kharkiv. I like it better in terms of tidiness. There are also projects being implemented on the embankment there, I have seen them, there are toilets with fish in the parks, you can walk barefoot. That is, they are really working there. You cannot compare them completely, because Kharkiv has a larger budget, and ours is negative, there are problems. And there is a political component: Kernes (Hennadii Kernes was mayor of Kharkiv from 2010 to 2020, — note) ruled the city for many years, he had a team. Mykolaiv is definitely losing, and our task is to change this for the better,» said Vitalii Kim.

Recall that the mayor of Mykolaiv, Oleksandr Sienkevych, said that the state is unfair in its distribution of financial support among frontline cities. According to him, Mykolaiv, unlike Kharkiv, does not receive compensation for lost taxes and additional funds for the maintenance of public transport.

The mayor explained that Ukraine has a reverse subsidy mechanism in place, whereby part of the funds from community budgets are transferred to the state budget for further redistribution to regions in need. However, Mykolaiv does not receive such compensation, but the city, according to him, needs help from the state.
