Vitalii Kim, head of the Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration, said that the region plans to develop its own cogeneration production to independently ensure the operation of critical infrastructure.

He announced this during the telethon Unified News.

As is known, thanks to the support of international partners, Mykolaiv region has more than 3,200 generators. According to Vitalii Kim, the region «strives to develop» its own additional production, in particular cogeneration and alternative energy.

«We are constantly increasing our generation capacity. In addition, we plan to increase our heat supply and water supply reserves. We currently have 3,240 generators of various types, which ensure the operation of critical and social infrastructure in the region. At the same time, we are striving to develop our own additional production, in particular cogeneration and alternative energy, so that in the future we can independently cover the needs of all critical infrastructure,» said Vitalii Kim.

Fifteen cogeneration plants will be installed in Mykolaiv this year: what is known

This year, 15 cogeneration plants with a total capacity of 27.5 megawatts will be installed in Mykolaiv. According to Mayor Oleksandr Sienkevych, they will be installed as part of the RePower project, which is being implemented by the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) and financed by the World Bank.

He also added that after the cogeneration plants are installed, Mykolaiv will not only be able to provide electricity to its own facilities and critical infrastructure, but also sell the surplus to the general energy grid through the electricity market. That is, not to a separate enterprise or company, but to the general system, where electricity is bought and sold according to market rules. In this way, the city expects to receive additional income.
