The destroyed building of Okhmatdyt cannot be restored

One of the buildings of the National Children's Specialized Hospital Okhmatdyt, which the Russians attacked with a rocket on July 8, cannot be restored.

This was said by Minister of Health Viktor Liashko at a briefing on July 12.

«We clearly know that this building cannot be restored. And now the process of technical inspection of the premises of the old technical building is underway. Most likely, it will also be demolished,» Viktor Liashko said.

According to the general director of Okhmatdyt Hospital Volodymyr Zhovnir, all buildings of the hospital were damaged, but the degree of damage is different.

The damage assessment is currently underway, and next week Okhmatdyt will select the company that will carry out the construction work.

According to Minister of Health Viktor Liashko, in total, more than 800 million hryvnias were received for the restoration — this is both money that went to the hospital's charity accounts and state funds. The priority will be repairs in the 1st, new building, replacement of damaged medical equipment, design and construction of a new building.

According to a preliminary estimate, 360-400 million hryvnias are needed to replace the equipment, however, engineers are checking whether there are any visual failures in the overall equipment. He said that patrons and manufacturers are ready to help by supplying medical equipment. And everything that is not delivered will be bought with money that is not already in the hospital's account.

Hit on Okhmatdyt on July 8

On Monday, June 8, Russia attacked Kyiv. The rocket hit the premises of the National Children's Specialized Hospital Okhmatdyt.

In total, in the middle of the day, Russia hit Ukraine with 40 missiles. As of evening, according to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, there were 32 dead and 129 injured in Ukraine, in particular in Kyiv and Kryvyi Rih.

As of the evening of July 8, emergency and rescue operations in Okhmatdyt continued. It is known that the impact fell on the building, where children were undergoing dialysis — blood purification in case of kidney failure.

During the search and rescue operation, rescuers retrieved the bodies of two children and their mother from under the rubble.

Earlier, the Minister of Internal Affairs, Ihor Klymenko, announced that emergency and rescue operations at the hospital have already been completed: two people died, 32 were injured.

Subsequently, the SSU confirmed that the Okhmatdyt Children's Hospital in Kyiv was destroyed by a Russian X-101 cruise missile launched by a bomber during a massive missile attack on Ukraine.

It should be noted that German Health Minister Karl Lauterbach announced that his country is ready to take Ukrainian children for treatment after the Russian attack on the Okhmatdyt hospital in Kyiv.

In turn, «Ukrzaliznytsia» provided shelter in the station's lounge areas and provided transportation for all families staying in Okhmatdyt.

The Prime Minister of Ukraine, Denys Shmyhal, said that 100 million hryvnias were allocated from the reserve fund of the state budget for priority restoration work in Okhmatdyt.
