The Security Service of Ukraine detained residents of Kharkiv Oblast, who are suspected of trying to transfer the latest technological Ukrainian developments in the field of the fuel and energy complex to Russia.

This is reported by the SSU.

It is clarified that the head of the design bureau and the deputy head of the workshop of the industrial enterprise were among those detained. According to the special service, the Russian Federation was interested in schemes, drawings and instructions for the production of steam turbines, as well as components for them.

«Such turbines are not manufactured in the Russian Federation, and before the beginning of the Russian aggression against Ukraine, they were continuously purchased at the Kharkiv enterprise. The units available in Russia have almost exhausted their resource and are in dire need of replacement or overhaul. Therefore, the scientific and technical achievements of Ukraine were needed by the aggressor to ensure the continuous operation of steam plants at the facilities of Rosatom and the modernization of Russian thermal power plants and hydroelectric power plants in order to continue the uninterrupted supply of electricity, including to the factories of the military-industrial complex of the Russian Federation,» explained the messages

As the investigation established, the leader of the agent group of Russian intelligence was a resident of Kharkiv, a former business partner of a local factory. According to the instructions, their henchmen were supposed to steal the «necessary» documents, digitize them and electronically transfer them to the Russian Federation.

The organizer was found to have more than 5 million hryvnia equivalents, which he probably received for cooperation with the aggressor.

Investigators of the Security Service informed the suspects of suspicion under Part 2 of Article 28 and Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. If they are found guilty in court, they face life imprisonment.
