Rocket attack on Chernihiv: already 14 dead and about 60 injured

As a result of the Russian missile attack on Chernihiv, residential buildings, a hospital, and a higher education institution were damaged in the city. It is already known about 60 victims, including children.

This was stated by the deputy head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Oleksii Kuleba.

He notes that a rescue operation is currently underway in the city.

«An eight-story building was destroyed, four multi-story buildings, a hospital, a higher education institution, dozens of cars were damaged. Now we know about more than 50 victims, including three children, and 11 dead. There may be people under the rubble,» said Oleksii Kuleba.

The deputy head of the OP added that rescuers and medics are making every effort to reach people and save their lives and health. Currently, all emergency services are working at the scene of the incident.

A headquarters was also deployed on the spot, where the necessary assistance is provided to those who need it.

Later, at 12:46, Minister of Internal Affairs Ihor Klymenko specified that 13 were killed and more than 61 injured in Chernihiv. Two children are among the victims.

«The victims are provided with the necessary assistance. The police are conducting a door-to-door inspection of the damaged houses, helping the wounded. Psychologists continue to work. Employees of bodies and units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Chernihiv region organized blood donation for the needs of the injured,» the message reads.

Updated at 1:41 p.m.: According to the Office of the Prosecutor General, as a result of the enemy rocket attack on Chernigov, the number of casualties increased to 14.
