In Ukraine, they are creating an information system on the treatment of prisoners, which will include information about the defenders of Ukraine who are in captivity of the aggressor state, civilian prisoners and those who are missing. The Cabinet of Ministers adopted the relevant Resolution.
This is stated in the notification of the Ministry of Defense.
«The document normalizes the functioning of the Coordination Headquarters for the treatment of prisoners of war and electronic interaction between the interested state authorities,» the message says.
In particular, the information system database should include information on:
- defenders of Ukraine who are in captivity of the aggressor state;
- civilians deprived of their personal freedom as a result of armed aggression;
- persons missing in connection with the armed conflict, hostilities, temporary occupation of part of the territory of Ukraine.
The resolution also improves the work of the Coordinating Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War — in particular, it regulates the activities of public receptions of the Coordinating Headquarters and grants rights regarding the functioning of the relevant regional centers.
As you know, since the beginning of Russia's full-scale war against Ukraine, more than 100 Ukrainian civilians have died in Russian captivity, including one child.
Earlier it was reported that on the morning of January 24 , a Russian Il-76 military transport plane crashed in the Korochan district of the Belgorod region of the Russian Federation.
The Ministry of Defense of Russia announced that the IL-76 military plane was transporting Ukrainian prisoners. At the same time, information appeared in the Ukrainian mass media that there were S-300 anti-aircraft missiles on board.
According to the representative of GUR, the information voiced by the Russian side that prisoners of war could be in the Il-76 plane is currently being checked.
Subsequently, the representative of the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense Andriy Yusov confirmed that on January 24, the exchange of prisoners between the Russian Federation and Ukraine was to take place. «I can state that the exchange planned for today is currently not taking place,» he noted.
It will be recalled that the released from captivity serviceman of the 36th separate brigade of the marine infantry Mykhailo Dianov said that the Russians treated the prisoners from «Azovstal» like animals and — stripped them, beat them, taped them and humiliated them.
