In the centre of Mykolaiv, on Pavlo Skoropadskyi Street (Admiral Makarov Street), the thermal power plant will begin repairs to the heating pipeline. As a result, traffic on the section from Mariupolska Street to Soborna Street will temporarily become two-way.

The decision was approved by the executive committee today, 13 May, according to NikVesti.

Deputy Mayor Yurii Andriienko noted that in June, the Mykolaiv Combined Heat and Power Plant (CHP) will commence work on Pavlo Skoropadskyi Street from Soborna Street to Zakhysnykiv Mykolaieva Street (Dekabrystiv Street). Consequently, members of the executive committee have agreed to close this section to traffic for the duration of the repairs.

At the same time, traffic on Pavlo Skoropadskyi Street from Mariupolska Street to Soborna Street will be two-way during this period.

Mykolaiv Combined Heat and Power Plant, in accordance with the draft decision, is to commission a traffic management plan and have it approved by the patrol police.

As a reminder, McDonald’s officially opened in Mykolaiv on 27 March. Residents had been queuing since early morning.

They were in no hurry to open the doors to the public, as officials had come for a tour. Mayor Oleksandr Sienkevych, the head of the Mykolaiv Regional State Administration Vitalii Kim, councillors and officials were spotted. They were shown how the kitchen works and the food preparation processes. By 11.30 am, the doors were opened to the public and people began rushing inside.

Then, residents of Mykolaiv began complaining about the long queues at the McDrive, which were causing traffic congestion in the city. A month after the opening, the queues had not diminished.

Mykolaiv City Council said that the problem of traffic jams caused by McDrive should be dealt with by the police.
