The municipal utility «Mykolaivvodokanal» plans to replace a section of the sewer main along approximately seven blocks on Ihor Bedzai Street (formerly Chkalova Street) — from 6 Slobidska Street to Inzhenerna Street.

This is evidenced by data from the ProZorro public procurement system, NikVesti reports.

The water utility has now commissioned revisions to the design and cost estimate documentation for the reconstruction of the sewerage collector at a cost of 368,600 hryvnias. The works are scheduled for completion by 1 August 2026.

The utility company commissioned the project itself back in 2024 — this work cost over 1 million hryvnias.

In March 2026, the water utility announced a tender for the reconstruction of the sewerage collector — the plan was to spend 59 million hryvnias on this work. According to the project, the existing reinforced concrete pipes were to be replaced with double-walled corrugated pipes. The total length of the section undergoing reconstruction is 1,806 metres. The project also involved replacing 45 reinforced concrete manholes along the collector.

Initially, the contract was awarded to a private company without a tender, but the tender was subsequently cancelled. The cancellation minutes state that at the contract signing stage, the company identified discrepancies in the project which «make it impossible to properly carry out the work under the contract»:

  • there was a need to change the length of the collector;
  • the tender documentation did not provide for the possibility of using equivalent reinforced concrete products.

As a result, the municipal enterprise cancelled the tender and commissioned services to amend the project.

It is worth noting that, according to the DREAM digital restoration system, the total estimated cost of the reconstruction is 77.6 million hryvnias. Of this amount, 64.7 million hryvnias is earmarked for capital expenditure.

It is noted that the main objective of the reconstruction is to improve the reliability of the drainage system, reduce operational costs for emergency repairs and maintenance, and eliminate unpleasant odours.

It should be noted that the most problematic sections for the water utility in Mykolaiv are the sewerage collectors, which are deteriorating due to gas corrosion. With the help of international donors, the company plans to step up the work of the rehabilitation workshop and repair the collectors.
