It is currently impossible to predict how often and for how long power cuts will affect consumers this winter. JSC «Mykolaivoblenergo» notes that this will depend on the situation in the power grid and consumption levels, and assures that it will do everything possible to ensure the stable operation of the energy sector.

This is discussed in the article NikVesti: Winter on backup power. Will Mykolaiv have enough heat and water during power cuts?»

According to energy officials, the situation will depend on the state of Ukraine’s power grid, consumption levels, available generation capacity and the consequences of any potential Russian attacks on energy infrastructure.

In the event of an electricity shortage, restrictions will be imposed on the instructions of NEC «Ukrenergo» in accordance with the established schedules for hourly power cuts. As is customary, the company has promised to publish information about the introduction of hourly power cuts on its official website and on its Telegram and Facebook pages.

However, it is impossible to predict emergency and special emergency power cuts in advance. These are implemented in the event of accidents, damage to the grid or the need to urgently stabilise the operation of the power system.

«The winter of 2026–2027 marks the fifth heating season under conditions of a full-scale invasion, during which the enemy is deliberately targeting the energy infrastructure, in an attempt to leave Ukrainians — and the people of Mykolaiv in particular — without light and heat. We remember last winter, when the consequences of enemy shelling forced energy workers to resort to unprecedented measures — the simultaneous implementation of up to five rounds of rolling blackouts, amounting to up to 20 hours a day without electricity. But that was the only way, at the time, to keep the power grid from collapsing!» the company says.

At the same time, the power company assures us that it will do everything possible to maintain the equipment and supply consumers with electricity.

«What this winter will be like depends on far too many variables, so we have no choice but to wait and see for ourselves. For our part, we can only assure you that wherever possible and within our power, we will do everything to ensure that the power equipment remains operational and that our customers have electricity,» emphasise representatives of «Mykolaivoblenergo».

It was previously reported that Mykolaiv will transfer 24 power transformers, with a total value of over 30 million hryvnias, from state to municipal ownership. They are planned to be used to ensure the stable operation of the city’s infrastructure during the 2026–2027 heating season.
