Mykolaiv, together with its Danish partners, will repair the water main on Ihor Bedzai Street — work is due to begin in October

The water main on Ihor Bedzai Street, between 3rd and 6th Slobidska Streets in Mykolaiv, is to be renovated. The tender was organised by the DRC — the Danish Refugee Council. Work is due to begin in October.

This was discussed during a staff meeting at Mykolaiv City Council on 5 October, according to NikVesti.

According to Hennadii Iziumov, the damaged section of the sewer main on Ihor Bedzai Street, where several sinkholes have already appeared, is due to be replaced in October.

«We are planning for a contractor to start work in October to replace the damaged section of the sewer on Ihor Bedzai Street. It will be finished by November. We already have four sinkholes there,» said the director of the water and sewerage company.

Mayor Oleksandr Sienkevych enquired about the status of the «favourite dig» on Ihor Bedzai Street and 3rd Slobidska Street. According to the mayor, the thermal power station has completed its work there.

According to Hennadii Iziumov, the repairs will be carried out using the rehabilitation method (a trenchless method of water main restoration, — note).

«Per Aarsleff A/S (a Danish construction company, — note) is due to start work in October. Work will be carried out in collaboration with the water utility to rehabilitate a section of the water main with a diameter of 1,000 millimetres from 3rd to 6th Slobidska Street and to restore the street’s infrastructure,» noted Hennadii Iziumov.

The water utility clarified to NikVesti that this concerns an agreement between the DRC (Danish Refugee Council, — note), the water utility and Per Aarsleff A/S. It is currently at the stage of approval and signing.

«The DRC held a tender. It was won by the contractor Per Aarsleff A/S. Our lawyers are currently reviewing the contract,» the water utility reported.

During a staff meeting on 5 October, Hennadii Iziumov also announced that they plan to complete repairs to the sewer on the «Strasse» market in October.

Previously, Mayor Oleksandr Sienkevych had repeatedly pointed out that the section along Ihor Bedzai Street and 3rd Slobidska Street had been dug up for a long time.
