An institution will be created in Ukraine that will unite Ukrainians abroad and help counter Russian narratives.
This was stated by Volodymyr Zelenskyy at a meeting of heads of foreign diplomatic institutions of Ukraine, the Office of the President writes.
He noted that there are Ukrainians in all parts of the world and in most countries. Therefore, it is necessary to modernize state institutions so that they meet the task of uniting all Ukrainians around Ukraine.
According to him, it is necessary to strengthen the institutional presence in the partner countries. This will be done in two ways. In particular, a decision was made to open new consulates abroad, including in Poland, Germany, Bulgaria, Italy, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and France.
«At the same time and together with the usual work through the system of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, we talked about this with the Prime Minister (Denys Shmyhal, — note), we are preparing the launch of a new institution that will ensure sufficient strength of global Ukrainian unity,» Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized.
The scope of such an institution will include:
- Ukrainians in different countries and their ties with Ukraine;
- protection of common interests of Ukrainians as a nation.
«Actually, it should be the Ministry of Ukrainian Unity and Countering Russian Influences on Ukrainians. First of all, abroad,» said the head of state.
He drew attention to the fact that Russia uses propaganda resources abroad to influence, in particular, Ukrainians.
As noted by Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the educational, cultural and informational needs of Ukrainians require greater activity from the state. At the same time, the system of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs alone cannot cope with this.
«We need an institution that will lead other state institutions to certain goals. We will present all the details in the near future,» added the President.
Earlier, the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy promised Ukrainians that despite the difficulties caused by the war, Ukraine will not have a «lost generation».
In his speech during the «Free to Dream» Ukrainian Youth Forum, he emphasized that the country will end the war in accordance with the needs of the state and people, as well as restore security for Ukrainian youth.
