Former adviser to the Office of the President, Oleksii Arestovych, said that he will not run for the presidential elections, even if they are held in April 2025 after a possible end to the war.
He expressed this opinion during a live broadcast on the YouTube channel.
Oleksii Arestovych predicts that agreements on a ceasefire may be reached in November, which in turn will facilitate the holding of elections in the spring of 2025. He also added that it is likely that parliamentary elections will be held first, which may affect the presidential elections.
«If everything goes according to the scenario, there will be a ceasefire from the New Year or Christmas. I think that there should be elections on March 31 somewhere according to the law. But they say that they want to hold parliamentary elections first, and then presidential elections. And I can say this: stopping the war unequivocally means holding elections. And that's all it comes down to,» he said.
When asked about his participation in the elections, Oleksii Arestovych said that a person who works in psychology «won» in it, and believes that it is wrong to «treat» people against their will.
«A person who is interested in psychology, not politics, won in me. And psychology forbids saving people by force. Therefore, this whole bunch of idiots has to eat the consequences with a spoonful. And being a savior or turning into someone else there is a very harmful story for them, first of all. And since I care about them, I will give them the opportunity to realize their mistakes on their own, and to draw a full spoonful of the consequences on their own,» said Oleksii Arestovych.
We will remind that in 2022, Oleksiy Arestovych is ready to run for the post of the head of state, if Volodymyr Zelenskyy does not run for a second term.
In 2024, the Central Election Commission (CEC) approved the estimated amount of expenditures necessary for the preparation and holding of the next local elections in the event of their appointment in 2025 in the amount of 4 billion 93 million hryvnias.
A year ago, the CEC approved the estimated amount of expenses for the presidential elections and the elections of people's deputies, which, according to the law, were supposed to take place in 2024.
