Ukraine began issuing grants for missile production, actively developing the ammunition market and creating innovation incubators for testing new technologies on the battlefield.
This was stated by the Minister of Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov at the Defense Tech Valley summit, Suspilne reports.
Fedorov noted that the market for the production of gunpowder and other explosives had been deregulated, and investments in the Brave1 defense cluster had also increased. He added that this year they started issuing non-refundable grants for the production of rockets, and next year they plan to support the creation of powder factories.
«I'll tell you a secret, this year we started issuing grants for rocket production, next year we will issue grants for powder factories. These are non-refundable grants that we give as a certain guarantee that you will invest and these investments will pay off,» said the minister.
He also reported that Ukraine is developing infrastructure for testing defense technologies, in particular drones and means of radio-electronic warfare.
«There are units in the NATO doctrines, so-called innovation incubators, which test technologies on the battlefield. We created our own units, in fact there are already a large number of them today. Before buying something, we test it and see how this or that drone works in real conditions,» he explained.
According to Fedorov, in total, over the past two and a half years, more than 200 companies that develop robotic ground platforms have appeared in Ukraine. As well as 500 companies that manufacture drones and more than 100 developers of means of electronic warfare.
Fedorov emphasized that even small startups with innovative technologies can quickly change the situation on the battlefield, without the need to turn into large corporations.
The website of the ministry states that the event gathered more than a thousand participants, including more than 100 investors from around the world, 650 Ukrainian and international developers from 250 teams.
Earlier, NikVesti informed that Ukrainian naval drones hit seven ships of the Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Federation during the year.
