Ochakiv's authorities plan to award the title of «Honorary Citizen» to the mayor of the French city of Fecams

David Roussel, the mayor of the French city of Fékam, is offered the title of «Honorary Citizen of the City of Ochakiv».
The corresponding draft decision is published on the website of the Ochakiv City Council, they write NikVesti.
At the end of September, the head of the Department of Education and Humanitarian Affairs, Hanna Belibova, proposed this proposal for consideration by the deputies. The document states that the title is offered for significant contribution and strengthening of international relations, as well as popularization of the city of Ochakiv in the international arena.
David Roussel has been the mayor of the Fekam municipality since 2022. In June 2023, during the war, the cities signed a memorandum of cooperation. As part of this cooperation, Ochakiv received humanitarian aid and medical equipment.
Ochakiv received humanitarian aid and medical equipment from French partners. In April 2024, Mayor Serhii Bychkov took a group of schoolchildren from Ochakiv to Fekam for a two-week vacation, during which he presented David Russel with a thank you for supporting Ochakiv children.
«As a symbol of fruitful and long-term cooperation, the city mayors laid a common avenue of yellow and blue flowers in front of the Fekamu city hall, as well as in front of the Ochakiv city hall this year,» the press service of the Ochakiv City Council reported at the time.
The draft decision will be considered during the session on Friday, October 18.
We remind you that Ochakiv has sister cities: Rheinfelden (Germany), Glamorgan Valley (Wales), Mouscron (Belgium) and Putnok (Hungary). In October 2023, Mayor Serhii Bychkov went to the Netherlands to the province of Utrecht, where he signed a memorandum on cooperation between cities.
