Dmytro Lubinets, the Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights, wants to receive from the Russian Federation lists of Ukrainian prisoners of war whom Russia is ready to urgently return.
He wrote about this on November 3 in his Telegram channel.
«As the ombudsman of Ukraine, I would like to receive from the human rights commissioner in Russia all the lists of Ukrainian prisoners of war whom the Russian Federation is ready to urgently return,» the message reads.
According to him, the Russian side recently announced that Ukraine «does not agree» to take some of its prisoners of war. That is why he appealed to Tetiana Moskalkova, Commissioner for Human Rights in the Russian Federation, to provide these lists of Ukrainian citizens.
Dmytro Lubinets emphasized that Ukraine is always ready to accept all lists and all citizens. Before that, as noted by the ombudsman, Ukraine is always ready to exchange prisoners of war.
«We adhere to the Geneva Conventions and international humanitarian law. RF usually inhibits these processes. And he uses it as a method of influencing Ukrainian society,» he noted.
We will remind, on October 26 in Mykolaiv, about 100 people and 50 cars took part in a rally in support of prisoners of war and missing servicemen.
In addition, the Mykolaiv City Council will appeal to the President of Ukraine, the Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada, and the Commissioner for Human Rights with a request to increase public coverage of information about prisoners of war and missing persons, as well as to take more measures to return military personnel from captivity.
As you know, almost 1,300 servicemen from the Mykolaiv 36th separate brigade of marines named after Rear Admiral Mykhailo Bilinskyi are being held captive by the Russian Federation.
