Zelenskyy approves plan to switch to new organisational structure of the Armed Forces and create corps

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has approved a plan to switch to a new organisational structure of the Armed Forces and create corps.

He said this in his evening address today, 3 February.

«The Commander-in-Chief reported on the modernisation of our army - the relevant plan for the transition to a new organisational structure of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the creation of corps has already been approved. We remain focused on its implementation. We need the corps system», the President said.

According to him, he and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi discussed approaches to the appointment of corps commanders.

«Today we discussed approaches to the appointment of corps commanders: these should be the most trained, most promising officers with combat experience and modern thinking. The army must be modern. And the main thing is to value people. The relevant decisions will be made public at», the Head of State added.

He also said that he had held a meeting to discuss energy issues and the protection of the energy system. According to him, the Russians are launching strikes and adjusting them to the capabilities of Ukrainian defence.

Earlier, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy commented for the first time on the personnel scandal in the Ministry of Defence related to the leadership of the Defence Procurement Agency. He believes that Defence Minister Rustem Umierov can make any decision for the sake of uninterrupted supply of weapons.
