US President Donald Trump claims that Washington has made some progress in negotiations to end the war between Russia and Ukraine.
According to Reuters, Donald Trump did not disclose the details of his contacts with Russian President Vladimir Putin, but he did confirm that he had spoken to him after his inauguration on 20 January.
«Let's just say I had it... And I expect many more conversations. We have to end this war,» he said.
Donald Trump also stressed that the United States maintains contacts with both Russia and Ukraine.
«We are talking to both sides,» the American leader said.
Earlier, Trump said that the United States was conducting constructive negotiations on a full-scale war with Ukraine and the Russian Federation. In particular, he expressed hope that agreements would be reached as soon as possible.
Earlier, Volodymyr Zelenskyy stressed that negotiations between the United States and Russia to end the war without Kyiv's participation pose a threat to everyone.
In addition, Donald Trump indicated that his administration had already held discussions with Moscow, but did not specify who participated in such a dialogue.
However, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that he was ready to «allocate people» to negotiate with Ukraine to end the war. At the same time, he called any such talks «illegitimate».
Volodymyr Zelenskyy also said that he was ready to sit down with Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin for peace, despite his hostile attitude.
