US planned talks with Russia in Saudi Arabia, but Moscow denies it

This week in Saudi Arabia, representatives of US President Donald Trump's administration planned to meet not only with the Ukrainian delegation but also with the Russian delegation. At the same time, the Russian Federation said that talks with the United States were not planned.

This was reported by CNN, citing a senior official in the Trump administration.

«This week in Saudi Arabia, senior Trump administration officials will hold separate meetings with Russian and Ukrainian officials», the source said, without specifying the composition of the delegations.

Donald Trump himself confirmed the upcoming talks, telling reporters that a Russian delegation would also arrive in Saudi Arabia.

«There are big meetings coming up, as you know, in Saudi Arabia. They will include Russia, but with regard to Ukraine, we'll see if we can do something», Donald Trump said.

He also expressed hope that «some very important things could happen this week».

At the same time, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Mariia Zakharova said that Russia is not planning a new round of talks with the US in Saudi Arabia this week, TASS reports.
