On Sunday, 23 March, negotiations will be held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on the proposed 30-day ceasefire in Ukraine.

This was announced by US Presidential Special Envoy Steve Witkoff on Fox News.

According to him, Russia has already agreed to two key aspects of the ceasefire - an end to attacks on energy infrastructure and targets in the Black Sea.

«I certainly hope that the Ukrainians will agree to them. Of course, there are some details that need to be worked out, but it will all start on Sunday in Jeddah,» said Steve Witkoff.

He did not specify whether Ukraine would take part in the talks, noting only that the US delegation would be led by Secretary of State Marco Rubio and National Security Advisor Mike Volz.

Earlier, the White House said that the peace talks would also begin with technical discussions on the implementation of a naval truce in the Black Sea. In addition, negotiations on a naval truce will begin in the Middle East in the near future.

It is also worth noting that on the night of 19 March, Russian troops carried out a massive attack with kamikaze drones, striking civilian infrastructure in several regions of Ukraine. According to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, with these actions, Vladimir Putin «effectively rejected the proposal for a complete ceasefire».
