Zelenskyy says he will talk to Trump today

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy said he would have a phone conversation with US President Donald Trump on Wednesday, 19 March.

He said this during a joint press conference with Finnish President Alexander Stubb.

«Today I will have contact with President Trump. Today we will discuss with him the details of the next steps», Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.

The President of Ukraine also recalled the talks between American and Ukrainian diplomats in Jeddah and called them «a really good meeting of our teams»

«I believe that everything was going right, if not for Russia, which is always unhappy when something goes right. We will talk about the details of the next steps and I think I will hear from him the details of the conversation with Putin», he added.

What is known about Trump's phone call with Putin?

On Tuesday, 18 March, US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin spoke by phone to discuss ending the war in Ukraine.

The phone call lasted 1.5 hours. During the conversation, Russian President Vladimir Putin supported US President Donald Trump's proposal to temporarily suspend strikes on energy infrastructure for 30 days and gave the appropriate command to the military.

It also became known that peace talks will begin with technical discussions on the implementation of a naval truce in the Black Sea. According to the White House, negotiations on a naval truce will begin in the Middle East in the near future.
