There has been a change of leadership at the Main Directorate of the State Emergency Service in Mykolaiv region — Andrii Masharo, who previously headed the rescue services in Kherson Oblast, has taken up the post of director.

This appointment is set out in Presidential Decree №543/2026 of 27 June, which also confers upon him the special rank of Major General of the Civil Protection Service. The document states that Andrii Masharo holds the post of Head of the Main Directorate of the State Emergency Service in the Mykolaiv region.

The State Emergency Service has not published a separate announcement regarding this appointment.

The new head has significant experience working in the frontline region. Since November 2022, following the de-occupation of Kherson, he has headed the Main Directorate of the State Emergency Service in the Kherson region. Every day, the service’s units dealt with the aftermath of Russian shelling, evacuated people, cleared rubble and carried out demining operations.

It should be recalled that on 23 June, Mykola Panasenko, head of the Main Directorate of the State Emergency Service in the Mykolaiv region, announced his retirement after 34 years of service. In an address to the staff, he thanked his colleagues for their service and stated that he was stepping down confident in the professionalism of the team.
