On Sunday, February 25, a German delegation led by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Germany, Annalena Baerbock, was in Mykolaiv on a working visit.
This was reported in the Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration.
As part of the visit, Annalena Baerbok met with the head of the Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration Vitalii Kim and Mykolaiv City Mayor Oleksandr Sienkevych.
They told the head of the German Foreign Ministry about the current situation in Mykolaiv and the region, the security situation, the number of damaged civil infrastructure objects and their restoration. The officials also showed the building of Mykolayiv RMA, which was destroyed as a result of a rocket attack.
According to Annalena Baerbok, Germany will support Ukraine as long as it is needed.
In addition, during the visit, the minister inspected the solar panel desalination systems installed as part of the Memorandum signed between Boreal Light GmbH and the Mykolaiv City Council. The German organization allocated 260 million hryvnias for the implementation of the project.
The RMA reminded that within the framework of cooperation with Germany, on February 20, the Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration and the Government of the Land of Lower Saxony signed a Joint Statement on Partnership Cooperation Intentions. It provides for humanitarian aid, economic cooperation, cooperation in the field of science, education, culture, and exchange of knowledge and experience in the development of the two cities.
Also, the Mykolayiv region is one of the ten that implements the Ukraine/EU Special Assistance Program for Sustainable Regions (SAP). This is one of the projects that the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ) implements in Ukraine. Its purpose is to support authorized governmental and non-governmental institutions in selected regions of Ukraine to provide a need-based service for basic care and protection of the population.
It will be recalled that on the second anniversary of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation into Ukraine on February 24, German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbok arrived in Odesa with an unannounced visit.
