On Wednesday, July 24, Minister of Foreign Affairs Dmytro Kuleba met with Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China Wang Yi.
As reported in the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China, they talked about «achieving a just and lasting peace.»
The Chinese side calls Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine a «crisis in Ukraine» and expresses readiness to help resolve it.
According to the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China, during the meeting, Dmytro Kuleba declared his readiness for negotiations with Russia, but they should be «balanced and substantive.»
«The Ukrainian side highly appreciates the positive and constructive role played by China in promoting peace and maintaining the international order. The Ukrainian side attaches great importance to the position of the Chinese side and carefully studied the «Six-Point Consensus» of China and Brazil on the political settlement of the Ukrainian crisis. The Ukrainian side wants and is ready for dialogue and negotiations with the Russian side. Negotiations should certainly be balanced and substantive, aimed at achieving a just and lasting peace. The parties also exchanged views on international and regional issues of common interest,» the message reads.
Dmytro Kuleba and Wang Yi also talked about cooperation and strengthening of relations.
«Both sides should fully play the role of a cooperation mechanism between the two countries and strengthen practical cooperation in various fields. The Chinese side will continue to expand food imports from Ukraine and work together to maintain seamless logistics corridors and international food security. We are grateful for the assistance provided by the Ukrainian side to evacuate Chinese citizens, especially foreign students, at the beginning of the conflict, and we hope that the Ukrainian side will continue to take effective measures to ensure the safety of Chinese personnel and organizations in Ukraine,» the Chinese Foreign Ministry added.
We will remind that the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba will be in China on July 23-25 to hold negotiations on bilateral relations and ways to a just peace against the background of Russian aggression.
We will remind that the former US President Donald Trump, after a conversation with the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy, declared his desire to organize negotiations between Ukraine and Russia
We will also recall that at the beginning of July, Trump's advisers presented him with their plan to end the war in Ukraine. He predicts that Trump may stop the supply of military aid to Ukraine if it refuses peace talks, in return Moscow will be warned that any refusal to negotiate will lead to increased support for Kyiv.
Trump's staff said that the priority of his potential second term would be to end the war between Russia and Ukraine as soon as possible.
In turn, more than half of Ukrainian citizens believe that it is possible to conclude a peace agreement with the Russian Federation only by completely de-occupying the territory of Ukraine.
In July of this year, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Ukraine cannot agree to an immediate ceasefire, because it does not trust the head of Russia's aggressor country. He emphasized that one cannot simply talk about a ceasefire, a plan is needed.
On July 23, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Russia's war against Ukraine should end as soon as possible.
