The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, spoke by phone with the new Prime Minister of Great Britain, Keir Starmer, and said that Kyiv and London are preparing an «unprecedented 100-year agreement.»
The head of the Ukrainian state announced this on social networks.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy congratulated Starmer on his victory in the elections and thanked him for the assurance that Great Britain's support for Ukraine would remain «invariably principled.»
«We coordinated our positions before the NATO summit in Washington and other international events and discussed the continuation of bilateral cooperation,» wrote the president of Ukraine.
In particular, he mentioned the preparation of an «unprecedented 100-year agreement» between Ukraine and Great Britain, however, without providing details.
During his visit to Kyiv in May of this year, the former British Foreign Minister David Cameron also talked about the 100-year agreement.
On the website of the British Embassy in Ukraine, it was noted that this agreement is designed to «build strong ties between the two countries in the entire spectrum of relations»: from trade, security and defense, to science and technology, education, culture and much more.
It will be recalled that Great Britain has already handed over long-range Storm Shadow cruise missiles to Ukraine. This will enable the Ukrainian defenders to strike at the enemy at long range.
