Instead of analog — digital: notification systems are being modernized in Mykolaiv region

In the Mykolaiv region, an alert system is being modernized, which could work in the absence of light. Two modern certified systems are already operating in Mykolaiv and Southern Ukraine.

This was announced by the Deputy Head of the Department of Civil Protection of the Mykolayiv Ova, Olena Horbachova, during a briefing on November 19, NikVesti writes.

According to her, currently 397 sirens and 192 loudspeakers are connected to the notification system in the region. In addition, four FM radio stations and the mobile application «Alarm» are used. However, the existing analog system, which has been in operation for more than 80 years, is outdated and does not meet modern requirements.

«There is a need to build local warning systems in the region, there should be 56 of them in 54 communities and 4 district military administrations,» she said.

Olena Horbachova said that technical documentation is already being developed for modernization, which involves the use of digital equipment. This will allow not only to improve the system, but also to minimize the influence of the human factor and guarantee stable operation even in the event of power outages.

«All communities of the region have already developed technical tasks for the modernization of notification systems. Two communities concluded contracts for the production of design and estimate documentation. Two modern certified systems are already working: in Mykolaiv and in Southern Ukraine,» Horbachova noted.

Each community will have an automated place for an operator on duty and an extensive notification system that will cover all settlements.

We will remind you that 6 million 100 thousand hryvnias were allocated from the regional budget of the Mykolaiv Oblast for 2024 to improve the public notification system.

It should be noted that during the summer of 2024, an air alert was announced on the territory of the Mykolaiv region 328 times: 126 — in June, 115 — in July, 87 — in August.

As already reported, in Mykolaiv they are working on a backup notification system that does not depend on blackouts.
