In Mykolaiv, another 31 traffic lights are planned to be equipped with uninterrupted power sources. This will allow them to work even during power outages.
This is evidenced by the data of the ProZorro public procurement system, NikVesti writes.
The customer of the works is a communal specialized installation and operation enterprise. And the expected cost of traffic light equipment is 4.2 million hryvnias. The contractor will have to complete these works by December 25, 2024.
Currently, there are 115 traffic light objects in Mykolaiv, of which 44 objects are already equipped with uninterrupted power sources, Ihor Nabatov, the first deputy director of the Department of Housing and Communal Services, said during a meeting of the Commission on Housing and Public Utilities on November 26.
«There are 115 traffic light objects in Mykolaiv. A traffic light object means an intersection where there can be 8 or 16 traffic lights. Of these 115 traffic light objects, 44 have already been provided with uninterrupted systems.
There are currently allocations for another 31 uninterruptible power supplies, and the corresponding procurement procedure is already underway. In total, we are expanding to 75 facilities in the near future out of 115,» he explained.
At the same time, deputy Iryna Boichenko asked whether the traffic lights along Arkasivska Street (former Pushkinska Street, — note) will be equipped with uninterrupted power sources.
«Tell me, please, and where are they located? Are they located on central streets? Because we have no electricity, our Pushkinska is just a cemetery of broken cars,» said the deputy.
With this in mind, at the next meeting of the commission, the housing and communal services department must provide a list of addresses at which it is planned to equip traffic lights with uninterrupted power sources.
Traffic lights during blackouts in Mykolaiv
In October 2024, 36 traffic lights were equipped with uninterruptible power supply units, which will help the devices work without light in Mykolaiv. Their value was 4.9 million hryvnias.
In particular, such traffic lights operate in three sections of the city: Pushkinska — Velyka Morska, Pushkinska — Nikolska and at the intersection of Sadova Street and Tsentralnyi Avenue.
The city council explained that traffic lights at intersections with the busiest traffic will be equipped with uninterrupted power sources. In the event of emergency power outages or blackouts, they can work in autonomous mode for 12 hours.
