Pivdennoukrainsk Lyceum №2 may join experimental project with security officers on campus

The Pivdennoukrainsk Lyceum №2 is planned to join the experimental project of the Ministry of Education on strengthening the security of the educational environment.

The corresponding draft decision was published on December 4, 2024 on the website of the Pivdennoukrainsk City Council, NikVesti writes. However, the deputies still have to approve it at the session of the city council.

According to Resolution №1245 on the experimental project, measures are taken to ensure the safety of students, namely:

• availability of shelter;
• observance of fire and man-made safety;
• creation of rules for the stay of persons on the territory and in the premises of the school;
• presence of alarm buttons;
• protection of the school, in particular, by the security police (on the basis of contracts between the school and the security police);
• fencing of the territory of the educational institution (the fence must be at least two meters high);
• installation of stationary or manual metal detectors;
• video surveillance;
• compliance with road traffic safety in the areas adjacent to the school;
• drawing up and updating the school's security passport;
• provision of alternative sources of electricity.

These requirements must be fulfilled by the schools that will join the experimental project on strengthening security. According to the government's plans, 2,000 schools can participate in the project during the 2024-2025 academic year, and another 3,000 schools in the next academic year.

However, the decree on the experiment does not mention the requirement that these should be schools from the frontline or border regions, as it was planned before. It is only a matter of the fact that the schools must be full-time or mixed and have more than 200 students. And participation in the experiment must be approved by the founder of the school with the Ministry of Education and Culture and the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

This resolution stipulates that security measures are financed at the expense of the founders and from other sources not prohibited by law.

What is known about Lyceum №2 in Pivdennoukrainsk?

After the reorganization of educational institutions in the city, Pivdennoukrainsk Lyceum №2 will remain the only educational institution where you can get a full general secondary education. What is evidenced by the data of the perspective plan of transformation and formation of an effective network of Pivdennoukrainsk general secondary education institutions for the period 2023-2027.

Later, it became known that in the three-story building of Lyceum №2 , 588 windows are going to be replaced from wooden ones to metal-plastic ones.
