On 7 January, the Verkhovna Rada registered a draft law that allows units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to be sent to other countries during martial law.

This is stated on the website of the Verkhovna Rada.

It is noted that the Rada wants to improve the mechanism for sending Ukrainian military personnel abroad to participate in international missions and receive the latest military equipment. This should help strengthen Ukraine's defence in times of war.

«There is a question of improving the mechanisms for sending and staying of military personnel, both individually and as part of units, on the territory of partner countries during martial law, which will facilitate the acquisition of sophisticated military equipment and professional mastery of its use to protect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine», the authors of the bill explain.

In addition, the changes will also apply to units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine that are already abroad.

Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, 46 Ukrainian soldiers have gone abroad for a holiday and have not returned to Ukraine.
