In the Kherson region, the authorities are negotiating with international partners to rebuild maritime infrastructure despite Russian shelling.

The head of the Kherson Regional State Administration, Oleksandr Prokudin, said this on the air of the telethon «Yedyni Novyny», according to NikVesti.

He noted that the Kherson port remains under constant fire and has not been working since the beginning of the full-scale invasion. Russian troops are constantly attacking coastal businesses. In particular, recently one of the vessels almost sank due to Russian drone strikes.

Nevertheless, Alexander Prokudin said he was looking for opportunities to restore port infrastructure and attract partners.

«We are already considering options to restore the port sector in Kherson region and are looking for partners. This issue was among the priorities during my recent and last year's foreign trips. We are now cooperating to rebuild the maritime infrastructure, which is enshrined in a memorandum between Kherson and the Italian city of La Spezia. I also met with Andrea Fontana, President of «Maritime Agents», to discuss the exchange of experience in the shipping industry and cooperation between the port industries of Kherson and Italy», he said.

According to him, the region is cooperating with Dutch partners who are developing a project to restore port infrastructure.

«Kherson region had two ports that are not working now, but this development will take place in the future. And shipping will be in the Kherson region. We are now trying to implement successful examples of these projects in the world and share this experience with», the head of the RMA is convinced.

Earlier, Vitalii Kim, Head of the Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration, said that Mykolaiv ports are ready «even tomorrow» to resume their work.

As a reminder, a ballistic missile strike on Odesa damaged port infrastructure and a civilian vessel. Four Syrian nationals were killed and two others were injured. At the time of the attack, the crew was loading the ship with wheat for export to Algeria.
