There is no register of green spaces in Mykolaiv, and the inventory cannot be carried out due to lack of funds, — the DHCS

There is no register of green spaces in Mykolaiv, so the total number of trees in the city is unknown. The Department of Housing and Social Services notes that funds are needed to conduct an inventory, so this issue is «out of time» at the moment.

This was announced by the deputy director of the housing and communal services department of the Mykolaiv City Council, Ihor Nabatov, during a press conference on Tuesday, October 10, «NikVesti» correspondent reports.

We will remind you that ME «Mykolaiv Parks» reported that 144 trees are planned to be demolished in Mykolaiv by the end of the year, 632 trees have already been demolished this year. The enterprise could not report how many trees are left in the city, because the city does not have a register of green spaces.

In a comment to journalists, the deputy director of the housing and communal services department, Igor Nabatov, noted that the law does not provide for the creation of such a register, but an inventory must be carried out.

According to him, work on the inventory of green spaces in the city has begun, but it has not yet been completed.

— Current legislation does not provide for the creation of such a register. There are rules for the maintenance of green spaces, which are the Constitution of the maintenance of green spaces of Ukraine, but there is no provision for the creation of such a register. There is a need to carry out an inventory of green spaces, this is true, it is provided for by the current legislation. It was also conducted by the housing and communal services department at one time. When these functions were transferred to ME «Mykolaiv Parks», they should continue this story, but, unfortunately, it costs money. The Mykolaiv parks received their status under martial law, as of February 1, 2022. That's why, as they say, it's not on time», — Ihor Nabatov said.

It should be noted that in May of this year, «Mykolaiv Parks» municipal enterprise ordered services for tree removal for five million hryvnias, sanitary and rejuvenating pruning of trees, uprooting of tree stumps and planting of trees on the territory of the city. It was about planting 50 young maples. The deadline for the works is December 31.

We will also remind you that in Mykolaiv they will create a map of trees that have fallen into the risk zone due to the construction of a water pipeline. Their preservation will be monitored by a special supervisory commission, which includes representatives of the public and ecologists.
