Maksym Mykytas

The judge of the High Anti-Corruption Court sent Maksym Mykytas, former deputy of parliament and former head of Ukrbud, under house arrest. He was also ordered to wear an electronic bracelet.

This was reported by the Anti-Corruption Center.

«VAX investigative judge Oleg Tkachenko refused to apply a pre-trial detention center for the suspected ex-deputy Maksym Mykytas. The SAP prosecutor asked to take the former parliamentarian into custody with an alternative bail of 134 million hryvnias,» — the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Ukraine reported.

Also, the following duties were applied to Maksym Mykytas:

  • to appear at the request of the detective, the prosecutor and the court,
  • notify about a change of place of residence and work,
  • not to communicate with witnesses and other suspects,
  • hand over foreign passports,
  • wear a bracelet

It is noted that this decision can still be appealed to the Appeals Chamber of the VAX.

We will remind that Maksym Mykytas and five other people are suspected of misappropriating money during the execution of the contract for the construction of warehouses. In 2019, NABU announced that Maksym Mykytas was suspected of taking possession of the property of the National Guard in the amount of more than 81 million hryvnias.

In 2020, he was informed of the suspicion of ordering the kidnapping of a lawyer in Kyiv.

Also in 2020, the NABU informed Maksym Mykytas of suspicion based on the fact that in 2017, the Energoatom division of NAEC concluded a contract for 929 million hryvnias with a company controlled by him, for which the official of the state enterprise received apartments.

In 2022, he was informed of the suspicion of a proposal to provide an illegal benefit in a particularly large amount (22 million euros for the opportunity to build a metro in the city of Dnipro).

On October 25, 2023, Mykytas was accused of embezzling 307 million hryvnias from the Ministry of Defense during the construction of warehouses in 2018.
