10 million hryvnias were spent on the complete reconstruction of the Petro Mohyla Black Sea National University.
This is stated in the article «Education in damaged educational institutions of Mykolaiv region and Dnipropetrovsk region is being restored. How did they do it?» on the Khmarochos website.
The rector of the university, Leonid Klymenko, spoke about the already available experience: if the restoration is not started as soon as possible, the result of the action of rains and frosts will be commensurate with the damage caused by the destruction. The reconstruction process must begin immediately after the shelling has occurred. Then the costs will be much lower, and the facility, in turn, will be put into operation earlier.
In fact, the Mykolaiv University had to restore the lion's share of the building on its own. For this, they used even waste from those building materials, which were: bricks, metal beams, etc. And for those works that the university could not perform on its own, appropriate contracts were concluded. For example, the restoration of the walls cost 1,300,000 hryvnias. According to Leonid Klymenko, these are the funds that the university was able to find from its own income.
There was also help from local and regional budgets: the regional administration provided the university with OSB boards and about 500 square meters of windows.
Most of the work on the restoration of university buildings was done at their own expense. Graduates who collected more than 500,000 hryvnias also joined the reconstruction of Mykolaiv University. Educators also attracted grant funds from «Erasmus+», which were used to restore the material base.
As you know, two rockets hit the university for the first time on August 17, 2022. One hit the central entrance of the main building, and the second hit the yard, at a distance of 20 meters from each other. But the Russians did not stop there and took aim at the higher building for the third time on August 19.
