The executive committee of the Mykolaiv City Council approved the list of places of festive trade in New Year's trees and decorations during the New Year's holidays in the territory of Mykolaiv.
The corresponding decision was made at a meeting of the executive committee on Wednesday, December 13, NikVesti writes.
According to the decision, it will be possible to sell Christmas trees and decorations during the New Year holidays in approved places from December 18 to December 31, 2023.
In addition, traders must comply with anti-epidemic measures, as well as conclude contracts for the removal of solid waste and the cleaning of the surrounding area.
District administrations are tasked with monitoring the sanitary condition of the territories where temporary holiday trade will be held.
«To recommend to the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Mykolaiv region to ensure constant control over the prevention of unauthorized holiday trade in Christmas trees and decorations by business entities and citizens during the New Year's holidays in Mykolaiv,» the draft decision states.
Mykolaiv City Mayor Oleksandr Sienkevych reminded that this year the Mykolaiv New Year tree will not be installed on the main squares of the city and no festive events will be held.
«We are not putting up a city tree as such this year, no money was allocated for it, but we cannot forbid people to celebrate and buy Christmas trees, on the contrary, we must give them such an opportunity,» Oleksandr Sienkevych said.
The members of the executive committee supported this decision and approved a total of 85 places in Mykolaiv for the sale of Christmas trees and decorations:
- Inhulskyi district — 34 places;
- Zavodskyi district — 27 places;
- Tsentralnyi district — 18 places;
- Korabelnyi district — 6 places.
We remind that last year in Mykolaiv, the main Christmas tree of the city was not installed either. Instead, on December 16, a «military-style» New Year's tree appeared in the center of Mykolaiv — it was created from camouflage netting for the military. It was used to cover the sandbags that were used to protect the monument to St. Nicholas in case of Russian shelling back in October.
