American historian, Yale University professor and specialist in the history of Eastern Europe, Timothy Snyder, raised $950,000 for the Safe Sky installation.
This was reported by the United24 platform on Facebook.
As you know, Timothy Snyder is an ambassador of the platform. Together with four professors from the world's leading universities, he collected funds for 2,500 sensors that will help protect Sumy, Odesa, Mykolaiv and Kherson regions from drones and missiles.
However, the historian decided not to stop at the achieved result. He launched a new collection for the same amount, which will be enough to protect the sky over the Kharkiv, Kirovohrad, Poltava and Cherkasy regions.
«I was very pleased to see how quickly people responded to the Safe Sky project. The support of people from all over the world has saved lives and brought peace to families who might otherwise have suffered. Now, with the onset of winter, I hope that we will be able to do the same in four more regions of Ukraine. This is a time for generosity, and we can all do our part,» said Timothy Snyder.
Safe Sky is an innovative Ukrainian sensor system capable of detecting air targets and predicting their route. It proved itself effectively in the test mode both against cruise missiles and against the Shahed 136 UAV. Thanks to artificial intelligence, the system also predicts where the next threats may come from.
We remind you that in September 2023 Timothy Snyder visited Mykolaiv and other Ukrainian cities. In this way, he investigates the war events in Ukraine and reproduces their chronicle.
Also in September, during his speech at the Yalta European Strategy in Kyiv, the historian said that if Vladimir Putin seized the Mykolaiv Oblast, it would change the world order.
