Members of the executive committee of the Mykolaiv City Council made a decision to eliminate the pedestrian crossing at the intersection of Nikolska and Velyka Morska streets in the direction of Yuzhnobuzkyi bridge.
The corresponding decision was made on Wednesday, December 27, during a meeting of the executive committee, NikVesti writes.
According to the decision, the pedestrian crossing will be replaced by guiding pedestrian fences, and the traffic light will be changed to increase traffic capacity.
«Eliminate the pedestrian crossing at the intersection of Nikolska and Velyka Morska streets through Velyka Morska street in the direction of Yuzhnobuzkyi bridge;
— to install guiding pedestrian fences on both sides at the place of the eliminated pedestrian crossing;
— change the mode of operation of the traffic light object at the intersection of St. Nikolska and St. Velyka Morska by increasing the duration of the green traffic signal on St. Nikolska, which indicates the permitted direction of movement to the right in the direction of the Yuzhnobuzkyi bridge.
The deputy head of the transport department, Oleg Kuksa, said that the new traffic scheme successfully passed the test period and did not lead to the formation of traffic jams. Accordingly, he expressed his belief that this decision will contribute to the optimization of traffic flow in this area,» the draft decision states.
The communal specialized installation and operation enterprise is obliged to develop a road traffic organization scheme and coordinate it with the patrol police of the Mykolaiv region. Also, they must provide a technical calculation of the structural part of the means of traffic regulation.
We would like to remind you that in Mykolaiv a traffic scheme called «turbo-ring» or «turbo-carousel» will be introduced at intersections with circular traffic.
The Department of Housing and Urban Development noted that the «turbo-ring» scheme in Mykolaiv is designed to speed up the movement of cars at roundabouts and reduce the number of road accidents due to the insufficient regulation of traffic rules when moving around the ring.
