The Australian Financial Review, with reference to an unnamed «high-ranking representative of the Armed Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine», wrote that Ukraine allegedly refused to receive 41 decommissioned Australian F/A-18 Hornet fighters, calling them «garbage».
Air Force spokesman Yurii Ihnat denied the statement.
According to journalists, the representative of the Armed Forces of Ukraine stated that Ukraine does not need this «flying junk».
The interlocutor of the publication from the Australian side allegedly stated that this «effectively destroyed the agreement on the F/A-18», noting that «if the representative of the Armed Forces had not done this, the planes would be flying over Ukraine now.»
In the comments under one of the posts on Facebook, where the material of the Australian Financial Review was distributed, Yurii Ihnat said: «If you don't know, stop harping! Because you've already got them all, if you're honest with your treason! We follow the only available path to the Western planes. As much as possible!».
He also added that there was no agreement between Ukraine and Australia regarding F/A-18 Hornet fighters at all.
