More than 500 farmers from the Mykolaiv region will receive 24.8 million hryvnias of state aid to maintain their farms.
This is stated in the article written by NikVesti: «We are working on our last breath. How the war forces a farmer from Mykolaiv Oblast to fight for every cow so as not to lose her business.»
This year, state subsidies were available to owners of 3 to 100 cows, with a payment of 7,000 hryvnias for each cow. However, not all farmers were able to take advantage of this support due to problems with registration on the website of the State Agrarian Register.
Olena Piskun, director of the department of agro-industrial development of the Mykolaiv regional military administration, explained that a total of 624 applications for assistance were submitted. Of them, 555 farmers will receive a total of 24.8 million hryvnias.
She noted that the main difficulties arise for users who have not previously registered in the system of the state agrarian register, or for elderly farmers who do not have experience in working with Internet resources.
«We realize that it is difficult for many elderly people to register on the platform on their own. Therefore, we recommend asking for help from younger relatives or neighbors,» said Olena Piskun.
According to Liubov Khodarina, the owner of a farm in the village of Lotskina, applications could be submitted only within three days, which made it much more difficult to perform everyday household duties.
«We thought that from May 1 to June 30 we would be able to submit an application at a time convenient for us, but in fact the application process lasted only three days. Only 19% of applicants managed to submit their documents on time. We had to sit at the computer all day trying to register, and we also had to take care of the cows and prepare fodder,» she says.
She noted that in 2021, the process of receiving subsidies was much simpler — it was enough to submit copies of documents physically. In the case of a positive result, the received funds can be used only for the specified needs, such as the purchase of fodder or payment of electricity.
How does the agricultural sector work in the Mykolaiv region?
At the beginning of March, twelve regions in Ukraine have already started sowing spring cereals — wheat, barley, peas and oats. Among them is the Mykolaiv region. In addition, in 2024, the yield of vegetables in Mykolaiv Oblast will remain at the level of last year.
In August 2024, agricultural producers received compensation in the amount of 61.6 million hryvnias for Ukrainian-made agricultural machinery and equipment purchased in July.
This year, in the 2024 sowing campaign, agrarians of the Mykolaiv Oblast used land that was flooded as a result of the Russian troops undermining the Kakhovka HPP. The head of the Mykolayiv Oblast noted that the farmers of the Mykolayiv region began to grow more technical crops due to blocked ports and problems with logistics.
