Journalists of «Nastoiashchee vremia» showed in a documentary the first footage of the arrest in March 2022 of the head of the Mykolaiv district prosecutor's office, Hennadii Herman, who was convicted of treason.
The documentary tape was published on the YouTube channel «Nastoiashchee vremia. Dok».
In an interview, the security forces said that in the first months of the full-scale war, they received information about the «draining» of data from law enforcement agencies of the Mykolaiv region. At the moment when they began to check persons who could start cooperating with the enemy, they came upon a representative of the prosecutor's office.
The name of HEnnadii Herman is not mentioned in the interview, but the spokesman of the Security Service of Ukraine, Artem Dikhtiarenko, clarifies that we are talking about the head of the Mykolaiv District Prosecutor's Office. In order to expose him, the security forces gave Herman false information about the military, which he passed on to the Russian curator. Most likely, it is about blogger-propagandist Yurii Podoliak.
The employees of the Security Service explained that the exit to the Russians was solely the initiative of Hennadii Herman, because he did not agree with the decisions of the leadership of the state and the Mykolaiv region.
«I contacted the YouTube blogger on my own initiative. No one came out on me. It was around the beginning of March. Maybe on the 5th, 6th, 7th, I don't remember for sure,» says the detainee in the video.
Among the information he transmitted were data on the first captured Russians in Mykolaiv, dead Ukrainian servicemen in the Kherson area, and passwords.
«He was not ready for detention. He was very relaxed at that time. I was in the offices of the first persons in the Mykolaiv region and felt quite confident. He transmitted all the information about Mykolaiv. For this, he was promised a position in the newly created law enforcement agencies,» says the representative of the SSU.
During the detention, the Mykolaiv prosecutor said that all the information he passed on to the blogger was later sent to the top management of the law enforcement agencies of the Russian Federation.
«Once he (we are talking about the blogger, — note) said that they were interested in me. I understood for myself that it was like higher management. I understood that it was the prosecutor's office of the Russian Federation. After that, I thought they would work with me. I didn't talk to them about this topic any more,» Herman said.
«You say that you did not see this information, but then you send it and do not understand what will happen to it?» asked the SSU representative.
«I understand what was done to her. Probably, he handed it over to the law enforcement agencies of the Russian Federation,» answered the detainee.
In an interview, Security Service employees said that Herman immediately admitted his guilt, but later changed his testimony.
