The cost of a plate of borscht in Ukraine increased from 55 hryvnias in 2020 to 110 hryvnias in 2024. The highest prices for borshch are offered by establishments in the Mykolaiv region

This is evidenced by the study of the Ukrainian company for the automation of institutions Poster.

The most expensive plate of borshch is in establishments in the Mykolaiv region (130 hryvnias) and Kherson region (129 hryvnias), followed by Kharkiv region (120 hryvnias) and the city of Kyiv (110 hryvnias). Instead, the lowest prices for a Ukrainian dish are in Ternopil region (60 hryvnias) and Sumy region (65 hryvnias).

For example, in Mykolaiv cafes, borshch costs on average from 134 hryvnias to 220 hryvnias.

The popularity of borshch is growing. According to Poster's forecast, by the end of 2024, establishments will sell almost 2 times more portions of this dish than in 2020.

We will remind that in 2022, Ukrainian borscht was recognized as part of UNESCO's intangible cultural heritage. Also, borshch made it to the top three soups in the world.

In 2022, it was reported that the index of the cost of cooking Ukrainian borshch increased by 27% during the war.
