Borys Dudenko, director of the utility company Mykolaivvodokanal, announced three forecasts for when fresh water can be returned to the city.
He said this on October 23 during a meeting of the commission on housing and communal services, write NikVesti.
He specified that at the moment funds for the construction of a new water main for Mykolaiv have not yet been allocated — neither donors nor the state have yet confirmed the financing of these works.
«You know, it is quite difficult to make forecasts, because today we have funding only in the amount that you have already talked about with you (25 million euros of credit and donor funds for the construction of new treatment facilities, — note). Other funding has not yet been confirmed by any party: neither the state nor donors. We are conducting very extensive work on this matter with Oleksandr (Sienkevych, mayor of Mykolaiv, —note), the Recovery Agency, the European Investment Bank and all possible financial institutions. Because, you understand, these are quite significant investments,» said Borys Dudenko.
Restoring the supply of fresh water to Mykolaiv may take from 1 to 3 years, the director of the water utility clarified.
«I would not like to make any commitments until we understand the sources of funding. I will say that if the left bank were ours, then six months would be enough for us. Now, with the construction of a new waterworks and a new filter station, to be optimistic, very optimistic, very, very optimistic, this is the year. Average optimism is one and a half to two years. Pessimistically — from three years. Yes, I ask you to be quite lighthearted about what I said. I emphasize once again, everything depends on how quickly we will find financing for all the problems we have encountered,» said Borys Dudenko.
