Security and development of education in the region: Oksen Lisovyi got acquainted with the work of educational institutions of the Mykolaiv region

On Thursday, October 24, the Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine, Oksen Lisovyi, paid a working visit to Mykolaiv Oblast.

During the visit, the Minister, together with the head of the Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration Vitalii Kim, took part in the opening of a newly created temporary educational space in one of the communities of the region, which suffered significant damage as a result of the armed aggression of the enemy.

The temporary educational space is a comfortable and modern space for learning. In addition to formal education classes, here students can attend clubs and master classes, media literacy training, mine safety courses, career counseling, and teachers can receive specialized training in methods of making up for educational losses, which will help them fill the gaps in students' knowledge and skills.

The space was built with the support of local authorities, non-governmental organizations and international partners.

Next, Oksen Lisovyi familiarized himself with the course of repair works in the anti-radiation shelter of the lyceum in Bashtan Oblast, which are being carried out with the help of state subsidies. The shelter will provide access to full-time education for more than 700 children.

In addition, that day the minister met with the mother of 11th-grader Vadym Kharchenko, and presented her with the award of the President of Ukraine awarded to her son. The boy is a student of the Mykolaiv Lyceum, he won a silver medal at the 17th International Olympiad in Astronomy and Astrophysics.

At the end of the visit, Oksen Lisovyi talked online with the educators of the territorial communities of the region.

«There are several important points on which we should focus today. In particular, this refers to increasing the level of absorption of state subsidies for equipping educational institutions in accordance with the «New Ukrainian School» reform, inter-school centers for studying the subject «Defense of Ukraine», school shelters, food blocks, as well as the purchase of buses. After all, not all subventions are transitional for the next year, so it is important to implement what is planned this year to the maximum. As for prioritization, it remains the same: we are primarily paying attention to the front-line and border regions,» he said.

He added that it is no less important to provide educational institutions that plan to work in a mixed or offline format with generators. This is one of the basic components in preparing for winter. And also the organization of training for teachers, without which the infrastructural part of the projects will not work.

We would like to remind that on October 29 at 11:00 a.m., a meeting of the regional leadership with local producers, heads of trade networks and entrepreneurs will take place in an online format.
