The Supreme Court confirmed that the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate (UPC MP) does not have the right to use the Transfiguration Cathedral in Chernihiv. The case lasted more than a year and a half.

This was reported by the Ministry of Culture and Strategic Communications.

It is noted that on November 26, the court rejected the claim of the administration of the Chernihiv Eparchy of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church regarding the right to use the 11th century cathedral.

The National Architectural and Historical Reserve «Ancient Chernihiv» called this decision «historic».

In general, proceedings in the case were opened in March 2023, the case was considered by courts of various instances.

It will be recalled that Oleksandr Tkachenko, the Minister of Culture and Information Policy, stated that the Ministry of Culture is in a civilized dialogue with representatives of the UOC-MP in Chernihiv.

Earlier, the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized that «the time of those who sanctify terror is over.» He noted that the «secular character» of state institutions is preserved in Ukraine, but the authorities should continue to develop partnership between the state and the church, religious communities, except for the UOC MP.

According to polls, the absolute majority of Ukrainians support banning the activities of religious organizations that have ties to Russia.

In addition, NikVesti informed that, according to the survey, Ukrainians have different forecasts regarding the duration of the war. 57% think that the conflict will continue for a long time, and 14% hope for its end within 6-12 months.

Also, the research data show that the Armed Forces of Ukraine continue to have high trust among citizens and occupy the first place in the corresponding rating. Almost all residents of the country trust them.
