10,000 video surveillance cameras are planned to be installed in the communities of Mykolaiv Oblast to increase security.

This was reported by the press service of Mykolaiv Regional State Administration.

At the meeting of the Congress of local and regional authorities, the strengthening of security in the territorial communities of Mykolaiv Oblast was discussed. It is noted that about 900 video surveillance cameras are currently operating in the region, but it is planned to expand the number of devices to 10,000 units.

«In 2023, the percentage of crimes solved in the Mykolaiv region was 47.2%. Thanks to the development of the video surveillance and video analytics system, it has increased to 49% today (with the prospect of increasing it to 56%). In addition, the percentage of detection of thefts from apartments as of 2023 was 83.7%, now - 91.5% (with the prospect of an increase to 95%), said Viacheslav Bazarenko, freelance adviser to the head of Mykolaiv RMA on digitalization.

It was previously reported that in Mykolaiv, two more cameras for automatic recording of violations of traffic rules are planned to be added to the road safety control system for 2.6 million hryvnias.
