The European Union has allocated an additional €26.4 million to Ukraine to support the winter response programme.
This was reported in the EU representation in Ukraine.
The funds are said to be in addition to the €17.5 million that the EU previously provided to the United Nations Refugee Agency (UNHCR) in 2024, as well as €4 million in financial support provided by UNHCR to support refugees from Ukraine in Moldova.
It is noted that the funds will be provided to families who do not have access to centralized heating or cannot count on gas.
The program should cover 57,000 households across the country, Ukrainians will be able to purchase solid fuel for home heating with the funds paid.
Another winter cash assistance program aims to support war-affected people in frontline areas. We are talking about 71 thousand households. Thanks to the help, they will be able to pay the increased heating costs.
We will remind that the European Union will allocate 175 million euros to support internally displaced persons and Ukrainian refugees in Ukraine and Moldova, and will also help with the deployment of shelters for Ukrainians during the winter.
As of November 4, more than 17,000 families in the Kherson region received help to prepare for winter. The total amount of compensation was 133 million hryvnias.
