This year, more than 170 agricultural producers of the region resumed their activities. In total, almost 3,000 agricultural enterprises were registered in the region.
Olena Piskun, director of the department of agro-industrial development of Mykolaiv RMA, reported this at the briefing, NikVesti writes.
According to her, they are gradually resuming the activities of farms engaged in plant and animal breeding. She noted that more than 70 farms received land plots with a total area of more than 207,000 hectares (2.07 billion square meters) for agricultural production.
«Both the enterprises engaged in crop cultivation and those working in the field of animal husbandry are gradually being restored. In addition, more than 70 households received land plots for agricultural production,» said Olena Piskun.
Also this year, a compensation program for the purchase of agricultural machinery was in effect. As Olena Piskun reported, more than 200 enterprises of the region took advantage of this support and saved 38 million hryvnias.
«Currently, the Ministry of Economy has approved more than 11,000 types of equipment, which is subject to compensation in the amount of 25% of the cost. This year, 212 economic entities in the region used this program. They reduced the cost of 282 pieces of equipment in the amount of 38 million hryvnias,» Olena Piskun added.
How does the agricultural sector work in the Mykolaiv region?
At the beginning of March, twelve regions in Ukraine have already started sowing spring cereals — wheat, barley, peas and oats. Among them is the Mykolaiv region.
This year, in the 2024 sowing campaign, agrarians of the Mykolaiv region used land that was flooded as a result of the Russian troops undermining the Kakhovka HPP. The head of the Mykolaiv region noted that the farmers of the Mykolaiv region began to grow more technical crops due to blocked ports and problems with logistics.
It should be noted that the agricultural producers of the Mykolaiv region, who suffered losses after flooding due to an explosion at the Kakhovka HPP, received compensation in the amount of 1.5 billion hryvnias from the state.
In addition, the Food and Agricultural Organization of the United Nations (FAO) selected 29 agricultural producers from the Voznesensk district of the Mykolaiv region, who will receive modular grain storage facilities for storing their products.
In 2023, the production of agricultural products in the Mykolaiv region, compared to 2022, increased by 24%.
During 2023, Mykolaiv region exported 2.3 million tons of grain and leguminous crops.
In general, the losses of Mykolaiv region farmers due to the full-scale war amounted to 5.5 billion dollars.
