The Russians condemned nine Mykolaiv marines who defended Mariupol

In occupied Donetsk, the so-called «court of the DNR» sentenced nine servicemen of the Mykolaiv 36th separate marine brigade.

This is reported by the Mariupol City Council.

Marines were sentenced to terms ranging from 24 years to life imprisonment. It is indicated that the Russians accuse the Ukrainian military of shelling the village of Staryi Krym in Mariupol in March 2022.

The soldiers will serve their sentences in a high-security penitentiary.

Andrii Shestak, Nazarii Moroz, Vladyslav Yavorskyi, Vadym Shulha, Serhii Yampolskyi, Maksym Kolbasin, Dmytro Shalara, Volodymyr Penzin and Kostiantyn Romaniuk received sentences. All of them defended Mariupol from the Russian invaders, were on the territory of the Azovstal metallurgical plant, and then were captured by the Russians.

We will remind that in 2023, Russia returned the body of Ivan Makarov, a soldier of the 501st separate battalion of the Mykolaiv 36th Separate Marine Brigade. The family managed to bury the husband only a year later.

As of 2024, almost 1,300 servicemen from the Mykolaiv 36th Separate Marine Brigade named after Rear Admiral Mykhailo Bilynskyi are in captivity in the Russian Federation.
