The Department of Capital Construction ordered a technical inspection of the Korabelnyi Palace of Culture in Mykolaiv, which was damaged by a missile strike. It showed that the building can be restored without complete dismantling.
This was stated by the director of the department, Oleksii Savchuk, in a comment to NikVesti.
According to the official, a technical inspection showed that the building's structures are suitable for restoration. Only the destroyed rear part of the assembly hall, where the rocket hit, is subject to dismantling.
«We received the result from the contractor. We can not rebuild it from scratch, but we can reconstruct or make major repairs. We can partially leave it in the form in which it is. The structures there are suitable, there is no need to completely dismantle the building. There is already a design solution there. First of all, we ordered this survey in order to obtain initial data for design, in accordance with the legislation, and secondly, to conceptually decide whether it is possible to rebuild it or whether it is necessary to build a new one. The type of construction is determined from the very beginning. Now we have both initial data and an understanding of what we should call this project in the future,» said Oleksii Savchuk.
The survey work began in the fall and is being conducted by the Kherson company Kherson-Project LLC.
Palace of Culture «Korabelnyi»
The attack on the Palace of Culture building occurred on July 5, 2022. As a result of shelling by the Russian army, one of the parts of the PC was destroyed.
In March 2023, the head of the city council's culture department, Yurii Liubarov, reported that the city authorities were considering several options for restoring the Korabelnyi Palace of Culture. Thus, one of the ways that the Mykolaiv authorities were considering was the demolition of the old building and the construction of a new palace of culture.
Later, Ukrainian architect Olena Hordynska, in collaboration with the Italian bureau Altereco, presented one of the possible options for rebuilding the Korabelnyi Palace of Culture. In the project, the architect proposed transforming the destroyed PC into a cultural park called Korabel kultural park.
The facility resumed operations in September 2023 after the arrival of a Russian missile. The Palace of Culture operated for almost 5 months before the incident that occurred on the evening of January 22. The fire, which covered an area of 30 square meters, occurred in the attic.
The fire at the Korabelnyi Palace of Culture in Mykolaiv put a final stop to the institution's work. The management believes it was intentional arson.
