We have enough men between 30 and 45 years old: Ombudsman against lowering the mobilization age

Dmytro Lubinets, the Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights, believes that lowering the mobilization age in Ukraine is inappropriate. According to him, men aged 30 to 45 constitute the most effective reserve for replenishing the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

He expressed this opinion during an interview with Ukrainska Pravda.

«If we take away these young guys who have no families, no children, we will automatically have no future for Ukraine. In my opinion, we still have a fairly large number of middle-aged men — from 30 to 45 years old. This is the most effective category of Ukrainian citizens who can fight and, probably, should fight», — he noted.

The Ombudsman also reported that as of December 2024, his office had received almost four thousand complaints about the actions of representatives of Territorial Recruitment Centers (TRC) during mobilization. Among the leaders is Transcarpathia, where the largest number of such appeals were received, followed by Kropyvnytskyi.

«In my opinion, it all depends on the regional head of the TRC, how professional he is, whether he was able to organize his work in such a way that mobilization was carried out and human rights were not violated», the ombudsman is convinced.

Earlier, the Ukrainian President's Communications Advisor Dmytro Lytvyn responded to the US announcement regarding the reduction of the mobilization age in Ukraine to 18 years.
