Mykolaiv City Council member Tetiana Dombrovska called the scandal with the new catering for schoolchildren a failure of the authorities. She demands that Anatolii Petrov, the vice mayor, and Petro Vasheniak, the director of the catering department, be dismissed.

She wrote about this on her Facebook page.

«This is not just an alarming signal — it is an outright failure. The new contractor for school meals in Mykolaiv, the company «Prosecco 8», failed to cope even with the first working day in a number of Mykolaiv schools. According to information published by NikVesti, meals for children were prepared in completely unacceptable conditions — in the open air, in the rain, pouring water over porridge and stirring with a perforator. This is not negligence — it is a deliberate danger to the health of children,» the councillor said.

She reminded that the government has been implementing school feeding reform for several years now, at the initiative of First Lady Olena Zelenska. And communities are allocated targeted subventions to modernise canteens and improve the quality of food.

«There is money to create normal, safe conditions. If instead of a modern canteen we see pots in the rain, it means one thing: someone either failed to fulfil their duties or deliberately ignores state policy and the safety of children,» writes Tetiana Dombrovska.

The councillor demands, among other things, to terminate the contract with the contractor «Prosecco 8» for improper fulfilment of obligations. In addition, she believes it is necessary to dismiss the relevant vice mayor, Anatolii Petrov, who, according to her, saw the cooking conditions but did not report the violations, «because there was no scandal yet», and to dismiss the director of the catering company that selected the winner of the tender.

«The life and health of children is responsibility №1. And anyone who does not understand this has no right to manage processes related to education and nutrition,» she wrote.
