Poland's Ministry of National Defence is considering the possibility of transferring several MiG-29 fighters to Ukraine.
This was stated by Deputy Minister of Defence of Poland Cezary Tomczyk on TVN24, according to the Polish media outlet RMF24.
According to Cezary Tomczyk, Poland has a total of 14 such aircraft in service, of which six to eight may be transferred to Ukraine. He clarified that these fighters are planned to be written off the balance sheet of the Polish Armed Forces by the end of December.
«They may end up in a museum, sold or scrapped. Or they may end up in Ukraine and help destroy our enemies. The situation looks quite obvious», said the representative of the Polish Ministry of Defence.
He also added that it would be advisable to resolve this issue during the planned visit of President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy to Warsaw, which is scheduled to take place on Friday, 19 December.
As a reminder, Poland plans to spend $100 million by the end of this year to purchase US weapons for Ukraine under the PURL programme.
